A collection that came into being over 3 years...
From November of 2020 until November of 2023, the concept of Glass Butterflies developed as the words unfolded. There was no particular time frame; this was one of those long-term visions where, as an artist, you truly trust the timing (your own and the world’s).
A Look Inside...
The 'why' behind Glass Butterflies
My main intention with Glass Butterflies is to peel back the layers of our internal, unspoken experiences and allow them, for just a moment, to be. The beauty, the pain, and the spaces between the two. It is like an invitation to hold it all up to the light and marvel at the details. If you are listening, if you are truly understanding what it is that I am trying to say with these words, I hope that from this we build a sense of community centering around the fact that all aspects of you and I are worthy of acknowledgement.
Let this collection be a reminder that your heaviness is not something that you need to die trying to transmute into something objectively beautiful, nor should you deny it altogether. All of the themes found in Glass Butterflies coexist and are subliminally and simultaneously active within us or our lives. That is the point. That is the thread with its ends touching. It continues. It exists seamlessly, all at the same time, in one body, in one vessel, in one mind, collectively throughout all of us.
